Jeff Meacham

Owner & Winemaker

My wife and I fell in love with De Tierra in 2017. De Tierra’s one of a kind tasting room, history and amazing wines drew us in. So when presented with the opportunity in 2022 to shepherd the winery into its next chapter, I felt as if it was meant to be.

Carmel by the Sea has long been one of my favorite places. I’m humbled to now be a member of the Carmel community and Monterey  County Vintners and Wine Growers.

My passion for wine and having met with many other winery proprietors along the West Coast through Harvest Hosts, intensified my interest in pursuing courses in UC Davis’ Viticulture and Winemaking program and pursuing my dream of ownership.

My favorite De Tierra wine is the 2018 Russell Estate Vineyards Cab Franc. It’s a great representation of the unique terroir of our estate vineyards.

Andrew Schoenfeld

Owner, Winemaker & Resident Troublemaker

As I split my time between Washington and California, I look forward to meeting all of you who come in to explore and fall in love with Monterey County wines.

My wife and I have known Jeff and his wife for 20-plus years, and when we were looking for our next adventure, it was destiny that we found De Tierra. If you run into me feel free to ask about the story — it’s too long to write here but I love to tell it.

I had a company in the wine industry years ago, but I am very excited to be more involved this time in actually making great wines and helping to craft the wine-tasting experience for the awesome Carmel Community and our visitors.

I love meeting new customers and talking with club members, both in the Tasting Room and at our events.

What is my favorite wine? If I really had to pick one I would say it is the 2019 Petite Sirah.

Many people know me as just “Dav”. I’ve been connected with De Tierra Vineyards over the last five years. I enjoyed being a club member but even more so serving customers and pouring the wine for their enjoyment as a Tasting Room Associate. I have recently been studying with the International Guild of Sommeliers, achieving level two Sommelier certification.

My son, daughter and two beautiful granddaughters are who I usually spend time with when not at work. When I’m alone I play my guitar, listen to music, walk in the sand and put my feet in the ocean. I especially love dogs, and that’s why De Tierra is wonderful for me because it’s super dog friendly.

My favorite wine is the Cabernet Franc. I have to admit there is some bias, because not only do I love the varietal, but I had the great privilege of harvesting it at the Vineyard, there’s a special connection because of that. I guess you could say I am now “one with the grape”.

I have worked at various wineries in the area, but really feel that De Tierra is my home. Come in, enjoy our wine, and make it your home, too!

Stephanie Sullivan

Tasting Room Associate

Hi I’m Stephanie, I’ve been working at De Tierra as a tasting room associate for about 2 and a half years. I love working in the wine industry. I truly enjoy meeting people who visit us in the tasting room from all over the world all with a common interest in wine.

On most weekends you can find me hiking, gardening, vintage shopping or wine tasting.

My favorite wine we have currently is our Russell Estate 2017 Merlot. You might think you don’t like Merlot but this vintage will change your mind and approaching these cooler months it’s the perfect pairing for all of your hearty winter roasts, soups and stews.

Drew Tripp

Tasting Room Associate

Hi! My name is Drew Tripp. I’ve been working at De Tierra Vineyards for around seven years. I started in wine production in 2016 and then transitioned into the tasting room after a few years.

Over the last couple of years, I have been working through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) program with the Napa Valley Wine Academy. In the last few months, I have been working on my level three certification.

My favorite wine here at De Tierra has to be the 18’ Puzzler red blend. It’s a perfect wine for fall. Speaking of fall, my favorite thing about fall has to be Halloween. I love everything spooky, so it is my favorite time of year

Operations Manager

I grew up in Germany where I developed a passion for beer.  Upon returning to the US my passion quickly transferred to wine….. and the rest is history.  I moved back to Europe (France) for 10 years where I further explored my passion for wine.  I traveled extensively to many wine regions in France, Germany, Italy and Spain…… absorbing all the knowledge I could.

When I again returned to the US I stumbled upon De Tierra Vineyards….. and again….. the rest is history.  I was one of the first wine club members and my passion for De Tierra has continued to grow over the years….. eventually as an owner….. and now as an Operations Manager.

My favorite wines are the Frannin White Blend and the Frannin Red Blend.  Yes, of course, because my beloved dogs are on the label…. and I love how De Tierra supports animal non-profits through the proceeds of Frannin sales…. but also because both wines are what I love most about blends….. the process of blending until they are just right.

Fall is my favorite time of the year….. the grapes are harvested…… the vines turn into a palate of exquisite color….. and the juice is on the way to being put into a bottle for everyone to enjoy.  Cheers!
